My Conversation with a drunk Catholic

Yes, you read that right. A drunk Catholic. But in order to explain what brings me to bring this up, let me explain. I was handing out Gospel Tracts with some friends of mine when a man named John* walked past me and took one of my tracts. He stopped, looked at it, and then walked back to me and said: "Now look, what do you want to know. I may be drunk, and I know it, but tell me what you want to know!" And that launched a thirty minute conversation with a drunk Catholic that left me embarrassed. And this is why. This man was able to point to verses in the bible and recall them at anytime from memory. I, the sober one out of the two of us, wasn't able to find any of the verses I was looking for. Do you see a problem here? I, the sober, was not able to find any verses while he,the drunk, was able to quote them by memory and find them. It makes me wonder(and also brings me to the point of this blog post), how much time am I spending in the word to be able to: "give an answer" for the hope I have in me? [1 Peter 3:15] Not enough. How about you?

*John was not the man's real name, I changed it for security reasons.
