Why?

This is a question I have been wrestling with as of recent: "Why am I here?"

Often times, it's easy to lose sight of why we as humans are here on earth. We get caught up in our lives, jobs, hobbies, the next big football game(go 49'ers), or whatever it may be. In these times, I like to go back and look at the overall story of the Bible to find why I am here.

6000ish years ago, humanity screwed up. Big time. They had one rule, and they broke it. But even though this, God made a promise to humanity. He would send a rescuer, a savior, to bring restoration to the damaged relationship between God and man.

Fast forward about a thousand years, to a man named Abram. Abram is a normal guy, but he is called by God to go a land he had never been to. And he does it! That's crazy! But he trusts God despite the craziness of the task.

Then, about 3000 years later, a man came healing and teaching that the kingdom of heaven was near. His name was Jesus - you know the rest of the story.

There are so many examples of great men and women in the Bible. They all had one thing in common as well. They loved God. They loved God. They loved him enough to sit in lion's dens, build a giant boat, and walk around buck naked for months (yes, that happened, check out Isaiah) all because they loved Jesus.

So, the answer to the above question is simply this: "To love Jesus and His word."

Out of that will come the want to obey Him and serve Him, but first, there must be a love for Him.

So if you ever wonder why you're here, remember that you are here to love Him, and out of that will come everything else.

Cheering you on,

Malaki S.
